How often should a piano be tuned?
Once a year for a family piano, twice for an instrument played a lot. In Switzerland the indoor air becomes very dry during the heating season: the soundboard shrinks and the pitch drops. A stable humidity between 40 % and 60 % keeps a piano in tune for longer.
After a move, wait one to two months before tuning, so the piano can adapt to its new room.
